1. Identify the vehicle
Bring the make, model, year, chassis or VIN, odometer and any model code. Photograph identification plates and note turbo, hybrid, modified or non-standard equipment.
2. Bring the records
Auction documents, import paperwork, translated service notes, invoices and inspection reports may show recent work. If records are incomplete, say so.
3. Describe symptoms
Record warning lights, noises, leaks, starting behaviour, temperature changes and air conditioning performance. Note when each occurs; photos or a short video can help.
4. Explain the intended use
Tell the workshop whether the car is for daily driving, touring, a purchase decision or a planned upgrade. This helps put findings in context.
Common questions
Should I service an imported vehicle immediately?
When history or condition is uncertain, a baseline review is sensible. The right scope depends on the vehicle, records, use and symptoms.
